Metsä Tissue has invested in a Valmet-supplied Quality Control System (QCS) to enhance performance at its Mariestad mill in Sweden.
The scope of supply to the mill’s PM35 includes a Valmet IQ Quality Control System equipped with a scanner and basis weight, moisture and softness measurements.
The system monitors and optimises end product quality by automating essential control points.
Leif Forsander, Technology and Development Engineer, Metsä Tissue Scandinavia, said: “By upgrading to Valmet’s state-of-the-art QCS scanner to PM 35 we’re simplifying operations and enhancing product quality.
“Integrating the new system with our distributed control system and controls will reduce complexity for our operators and give us the quality control we need to improve runnability and consistency from papermaking through converting.”
Metsä Tissue has previously invested in one new paper machine and three new converting lines, one for folded paper towels for professional use and two converting lines to produce rolled tissue papers for the consumer market.
In total the company now has three paper machines and nine converting lines at the Future mill in Mariestad.
