Start-up team: Greece’s Intertrade Hellas starts up a Toscotec-supplied turnkey tissue plant

Greece’s Intertrade Hellas has start-up a Toscotec-supplied AHEAD 2.2L turnkey project at its plant in Oinofyta.

PM2 features a net sheet width of 5.6m, a maximum operating speed of 2,200m/min, and a production capacity of up to 80,000tpy over a range of facial, toilet, napkin and towel products.

Toscotec said the project is designed to “maximise energy efficiency” across the entire production line.

The machine features a hydraulic TT Headbox-ML-T and TT NextPress shoe press technology.

A third-generation TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer is integrated with cogeneration system managed by Toscotec DCS, TT Brain, and the plant is also equipped with an integrated solution for stock preparation.

The TT Hydrogen Burner is designed to work with up to 100% hydrogen fuel and TT Hoods are engineered for future 100% electric operation.

The project includes an OPTIMA 2600 slitter rewinder with an automatic shaft puller.

John Delidimos, Chief Executive of Intertrade Hellas, said: “We are excited to be the first to implement Toscotec’s new automation systems and energy-saving solutions.

“With the installation of the Toscotec machine, we are eliminating a long-standing multi-year trade deficit in tissue products in Greece, helping restore our country’s self-sufficiency and independence in tissue production.”

Established in 1992, Intertrade Hellas is a leading tissue producer in Greece, operating three facilities in Acharnes, Metamorfosi, and Oinofyta.

Its product range includes branded products under the Softex and Servin brands and private label products: toilet paper, napkins, kitchen roll for home and professional use, as well as pocket and facial tissue.
